Shortkeys 3

Have you decided if you need software to save you hours of typing time? I’ve provided you with 3 options: buy immediately, read a bit more and then buy, use a 30 day trial. If not for you, use the icons at the bottom of the post to let a friend know to come read here and buy the product through me.

To recap, this is perfect for people who type a lot. Or for people who do not type well. Or for people who type the same thing over and over. Or for people who are starting aches and pains. Or maybe you’re like me, all of the above and just a little lazy, so anything that eases the process of being in front of the computer helps.

It is simply called ShortKeys. A pretty appropriate name. And if you’re in the market for the software, the best gift you can give yourself. They do increase the price occasionally, particularly with major upgrades. Try now: available at $24.95: a good deal in any currency.

Just to whet the appetite 😎

Before I give you the exact detail of the software that allows you to expand words, phrases, etc., let me give you some examples. If I was writing an e-mail and wanted to finish off, all I have to type is:

rg  and this is what would appear;
Regards
Desray J

I have many signatures. For instance, I have this one I use for Spanish client:

Srg
Saludos cordials
Desray J Britz
Language Online Editing
www.languageonline.us

Of course, the signatures can be achieved from within an e-mail program. I simply used them as an example of how a few letters could put in one word or a thousand words, and the added bonus is that I can format the text in advance.

So what is so great about typing a short letter string:

  • As I’ve already demonstrated, I have many signatures. Actually quicker than using the signature feature on Outlook and more flexible.
  • My language business is set up where much of the initial contact by e-mail is standardized. I found myself repeating the same ideas over and over. Over a period of time, I developed many standardized blocks of text. I can use all the normal word processing features like bolding, changing font color, bulleting, and virtually anything you can think. But the best part is that I can proofread the text a number of times to make sure none of my normal typos are evident. Just leaves a bad impression to constantly make mistakes. And I can change it at a moment’s notice.
  • With standardizing replies, I can make sure I send everyone all the information they need and that I do not leave anything out.
  • MSWord has the ability to do what I have described using building blocks. But I find the process cumbersome and frankly annoying. Also, it is limited to MSWord products. With the software I use, I can use almost anywhere on the computer. So I can use it in MSWord products or my websites or anywhere that I can type.
  • And the amazing part, is that I can keep building as many blocks of text as I require or delete them once done. The options are never ending.

I think you have enough information now to make a decision. Either this is something that can help you, or it is not for you. The exact details of the software will be in the next post. Till then.

Shotkeys 1

Do you spend a lot of time at the computer? Do you do a lot of typing, in particular, repetitive typing? If your answer is yes, keep reading. Do you type well? In my case, I type a lot but am a poor typist. That means lots of re-reading and lots of re-typing. Over time, I have come up with a number of techniques to overcome the problem of typing a lot and typing poorly.

More recently, I have also found that my fingers and wrists and sometimes even my arms and shoulders hurt when I sit for long periods and time at the computer.

There are a number of solutions:

  1. I could stop typing: but of course this is not really a solution.
  2. I could get someone else to type for me: works to some extent, but is costly.
  3. I could learn to type better: I have learnt to type faster now, but still make lots of errors that need constant correcting.
  4. I could find a way to expand words or phrases or sentences or paragraphs or even whole documents that I type repeatedly. This is going to be the first exciting software product that I plan to share.
  5. I could use software to dictate what I am saying, instead of physically typing it with my fingers. I am in fact, speaking my thoughts right now, but more about dictation software later.

Are you excited? I know I was when I first started using software to help me with my poor typing and sore fingers. I look forward to sharing more in future posts.
